Heal Your Child from the Inside out by Robin Ray Green

Drawing from the ancient wisdom of the Five Elements of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Robin Ray Green, L.Ac., MTCM, offers simple solutions for creating a natural healing program that is as unique as your child. Questionnaires and quizzes help you gain an understanding of your child’s 5-Element type—whether it’s Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal or Water—to allow you to diagnose imbalances within the body that create health issues. Once you’ve gained a solid understanding of the 5 Elements and how health conditions are affected by elemental imbalances, nutrition, and lifestyle, you’ll learn simple techniques—such as acupressure, massage, and meditation—that will help your child achieve vibrant health.

Pediatric Acupuncture by May Loo

Dr. Loo breaks down treat modalities, initial intake, and TCM differential diagnosis for common pediatric illnesses. This is by far my favorite book on pediatric acupuncture.

This practical introduction to pediatric acupuncture and related techniques explores the important concepts of childhood development and integrates conventional theories with those of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Provides effective acupuncture techniques for treating 22 common childhood conditions, with special emphasis on treatments that are safe, simple, non-invasive, and readily accepted by children.”

“In this broadly expanded third edition, the authors explore a number of new topics and revisit many of the old ones with fresh perspective. In addition to the thirty subjects covered in earlier editions are sixteen new chapters which examine a wide variety of topics, from basic childhood patterns, puberty and the stages of development, immunizations, and learning difficulties to hayfever, hyperactivity and attention deficit disorder, autism, Down’s syndrome, cerebral palsy and infantile paralysis.”

Chinese Pediatric Massage: A Practitioner’s Guide by Kyle Cline

This book is a comprehensive guide to pediatric tuina. It’s not as easy to access as Dr. Fan Ya-Li’s book but it provides more massage techniques as well as a full history of the development and use of xiao er tuina.

“This clearly illustrated guide is designed to give all health care providers–massage therapists, homeopathic and allopathic practitioners, and bodyworkers–who know the general concepts of traditional Chinese medicine the tools and knowledge they need to successfully use Chinese pediatric massage in treating their patients.”
